Bindi Vora

I dreamed we danced last night, 2021

In a new series of works on paper exploring the uncanny – photographic artist Bindi Vora and artist Maarten van den Bos collaborate artistically for the first time bringing together their fascination of the vernacular, mark making, gesture and the ambiguity of the human form. ‘Untitled’ probes the ideas related to loss and absence as performed and constructed through a series of isolated limbs; delving back into their own image archives collectively procured over a twenty-year period.

Through this work they grapple with hidden meanings and the mystic using their limited palette of materials – acrylic, pastel and found imagery – intuitively applied to the surface to evoke their desire to create a structure through which to support the limbs. These entangled afflictions call to question methods of care, mediating the notion of otherness, belonging and separation.
